ISH Comics Club Clash!

The Concept:
My time at the international School was coming to a close and what a better way to finish it off than have have an epic superhero battle that spanned over multiple Weeks!

A early pencil rendering I did of everyones characters in the clash.
The ISH Comics Club Super Hero Clash
(Not to be confused with the band The Clash)

The Characters:
The members of Comics Club each came up with their own characters which they had to draw origin and later on, a training montage for featuring ISH superstar Little Timmy

The Competition:
Week 1
First the artists were paired up. The each did a comic jam where their character won the battle.
A coin flip would decide which artist character had won, it was a single elimination tournament till we got down to 2 victors Enzo and Ido

Week2
Ido and Enzo book picked teams to work on a comic story where their characters battled each other.
The winner would be proudly display on Mrs Mausolf's classroom wall for all to see. They were also given the task of drawing a training montage comic. The best comic would be featured here on this website.

Week3
The Championship comics were finished and the Winners were decided!

The Championship Winners!

Training montage Winners!

Roee's fantastic comic. Awesome energy in this one.

Natasha's amazing comic. Great detail in the panels, coloring is awesome
and check out the lighting in the last panel!

Here was the runner up. A frantic interesting story with a ton of twists and turns
By Enzo, Alessio, Tommy and Patrick

The Ceremony:
Week 4
My final day at comics club and it was with a heavy but happy heart I gave out certificates and drew pictures on each of the artist's certifcates. Each certifcate highlighted the skill that artist had that made their drawing style and flare for storytelling unique

The Comradery:
Comics club isn't over. I may not be there every week but it will live on at ISH. The artists are from all around the world and will take their talent and skills with them whereever they go. An incredible bunch of artists that were a joy to inspire and be part of their creative process.

PARENTS: EMAIL ME THEIR ARTWORK AND I WILL POST IT UP HERE!

This site is still the artists of ISH Comics Club's forum. Take a photo with your smartphone and I will post it up here.

Thank you so much, Tracy, Susan, Lital, Garry and all the parents and artists. You guys ROCK!

I will be back at ISH for book week and the launch of the children's book I have illustrated Michel the Merman and look forward to catching up with you all there.

Myself, Matthew and Roee, Keepin it real :)

Keep drawing

ISH Comics Jam: Squid's Evil Plan.

Here is a spectacular Comics Jam by the Intermediate group.

Each artist had to fill in the next panel. We brainstormed the first panel together. The focus wasn't on the art but rather the story and seeing how crazy it would get collaborating together.

We rolled a dice to see who went in what order we would go in. There were special panels, if artists landed on that panel they would roll a disc and have to work a numbered prop into the story.

Click on the first image to go through the Story and follow the adventures of Timmy (The ISH mascot) Squid, Ear Space Ear and Pirate Batman.

The props were:
A fake Ear
A toy Car
A pirate Batman Figure

This story continues in an incredible fashion the following week. Will post it up next week. Stay tuned!

Ido's Auto

We had an awesome lesson the other day where we use depth to draw cars. Here's the lesson for anyone to use:

The students drew some amazing artworks and then entered their cars in a flick pen tournament. Ido won in a close match in the finals vs Alessio, Hannah and Easton. As a prize I coloured one of the cars that he drew:

The Junior club has drawn amazing underwater scenes with Dolphins and Sharks, Character design and Profiles for their characters:

I left the Intermediate group a project to work on over the break. All finished comics will be made part of a .pdf that'll be hosted online for everyone to download and print out. Feel free to print this assignment out for your kids to do over the weeeks we are on break.

Looking foward to catching up after the break. Keep up the good work!
